We've been busy little bees. And the buzz around HQ are over a couple of new pieces of gear – one we created and one we collaborated on – which may just be the coolest things you add to your set up this year. Or at least this month.

On the "calories in" side of the scale is THE most decadent dessert ever to grace our lips. No affiliation. Just adoration.
There's a new book recommendation, a ridiculous reality show that only the South Koreans could dream up, and a 2023 reading list that looks like your future Amazon shopping cart.
This is what you're here for.
And we're here for you.
Welcome to The Ambush. Kelly, Juliet, and The Ready State Team

Our Latest Collab –
This mad-lab creation with our friends at AbMat. We are thrilled to announce our latest Co-lab with the brilliant minds at AbMat. While NO one likes to do split squats, hip thrusts are like, soooo totally popular. We created the Pivot Pad to rescue society from having to use a box or a bench for their hip thrusts. The Pivot Pad turns any squat rack into a comfy, variable height hip thrust machine!
What You Should Listen To –
This recent podcast with Joe De Sena. You probably heard of Joe. he's the founder and CEO of Spartan, the world’s leading endurance sports brand. We've done one or twelve Spartan races in our day. In this episode we get into the origin of Spartan, Joe’s love of suffering (and torturing others?), and the amazing ability Joe has of inviting people in to discover their own greatness. Tune in at the link above!
This episode of The Ready State Podcast is brought to you by Sleepme. Head over to sleep.me/trs to learn more and save on the purchase of any new Cube, OOLER or Dock Pro Sleep System.
What We're Watching –
This epic show on Netflix. Kelly and Juliet really don’t watch any one particular sport per se. They are, however, obsessed with watching people compete in pretty much anything. So when Squid Games, the movie Parasite, and the CrossFit Games had a baby, Netflix’s South Korean Physical 100 was a Starrett no-brainer. They recommend that you watch some of it over dubbed in English, and some of it in the original Korean. Spoiler: body building may NOT be the best training for activities that require high aerobic outputs.
What We're Reading –
The Destructives. We aren’t sure if you have flirted with ChatGPT yet, or have been following Microsoft’s recent Bing/Sydney AI weirdness, but have we got a book for you. Matthew De Abaitua’s The Destructives is an incredible book about the strange possibilities of a post-Singularity/Emergent AI sentient world. This book came to Kelly via his Mental Assassin friend Serge, and It blew his mind. As soon as the Microsoft AI started getting dark, Kelly immediately knew this book had to be in The Ambush.
What Else We're Reading –
This article on the Best Health & Wellness Books for Your 2023 Reading List. Who doesn't love a combo health/wellness + recommended reading listicle? First of all, awesome to see our good friend Jill Miller making this list. Also, we were stoked to see our upcoming book Built To Move also made the cut. (Twice, actually. But we're not reaching out to the editors to correct their duplication. :-)). If you haven't secured your copy ahead of publication, go pre-order today!
What We're Nom-Noming On –
The Triple Chocolate Panettone from Roy. It is well known that Kelly has a bit of a soft spot for a cookie. Well, dessert in general. He will tell you this is one of his driving factors for why he loves to exercise. What you might NOT know, however, is that he also has a thing for Panettone. Like a THING. If barely pressed on the matter, Kelly will swear that From Roy’s Panettone is his favorite sweet thing on earth. Like “last meal on earth” favorite. Kelly believes that Chef Roy Shvartzapel is an actual national treasure.
See what we did there? Ended with the dessert.
It's not like we're eating one a week. (We could. They're that good).
Besides, it all gets burned off in the first ten minutes of an episode of Physical 100.
(Just to be safe, don't tell Joe about the Panettone. He's liable to make us carry a live donkey up a mountain as punishment next time we see him.)
Respect the omerta.
This is Team TRS, signing off.
